mornington peninsula zero-waste farming
"Sustainability on your plate, we take a zero-waste approach to food"
Zero waste farming & cooking is a philosophy and set of practices that aims to minimise food waste and food miles reducing the environmental impact of food production and consumption. We also like to work with other small farmers who are values aligned, who practice organic, sustainable and restorative farming such as @gainsboroughpark @justaveggiepatch @hungryhare @lakesideberries
We encourage people to take a greater interest in understanding the origin of their food in order to create a more sustainable food system.

FREEZE DRIED STRAWBERRIES
Nothing but Fruit
100% GUILT-FREE SNACK
This preservation method removes the moisture from the fruit while retaining approx. 95% of its nutritional value. Freeze drying extends shelf life of the fruit without the need for additives or preservatives plus they can be easily rehydrated when needed, add to smoothies, crush and sprinkle on cereal, deserts or use in cooking or eat straight from the packet.

Our award-winning quince paste
We use a traditional recipe which brings out the flavour of the quince. The receipe consists of our award-winning quince, rainwater and Australian Sugar nothing else.
The process is a mix of stepping, heating and dehydrating which brings out an exceptional flavour and colour.
We often hear 'this is just how I remember it made by my mother - or grandmother'....

A little more about us....
Having grown up on a large rural property in western NSW, I have a love for farming. My family for generations were cattle, sheep, wheat and dairy farmers.
Why preserving? Anyone can learn to preserve. The secret is having the right equipment, the time and patience along with high-quality farm fresh produce.
At the Balnarring farm and the Mornington Peninsula, we have an abundance of fruit and vegetables and what better way to be able to enjoy them year-round...
We love to share the high-quality ingredients with others.

1
we grow our own
pesticide-free, organic seasonal produce using no-dig no-till methods

we create amazing, yummy preserves using as much of our seasonal produce as possible

kindness is in sharing
'We see it as a simple yet powerful act of kindness which has a positive impact on our local community'
Having an abundance of fruit and vegetables is a wonderful thing, as it not only provides nourishment for oneself, but also allows for the opportunity to share with others.
